REECALL 2021 is a continuation of Oxfam’s innovative response to the needs of climate-vulnerable communities, with emphasis on economic justice, women’s empowerment, climate action, disaster risk reduction, active citizenship and knowledge management. REE CALL 2021 involved the areas of activities i.e climate resilience agriculture, DRR resilience WASH, develop entrepreneurship and social rights. The major objective is government, communities & civil society have driven sustainable & inclusive climate action & DRR through collective effort. By 2021 vulnerable women, men and institutions in rural areas are more resilient to social, economic and climatic shocks and stresses.
REECALL 2021, named to contribute to nation’s aspiration at the eve of golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence in 2021, is the second phase of the Resilience through Economic Empowerment, Climate Adaptation, Leadership and Learning (REE-CALL) framework program of Oxfam in Bangladesh. Learning from implementing the first phase of REE-CALL identified several opportunities to meet the needs of climate-vulnerable communities in REECALL 2021. In REECALL 2021, Knowledge-based citizen action oriented interventions are prioritized for economic justice, women empowerment, climate action and DRR works while equitable economic empowerment works are prioritized from the perspective of climate and disaster resilience REECALL 2021.
There are three major objectives as 1) Women, men, their families and communities have benefited from sustainable and equitable economic activity; 2) Government, communities & civil society have driven sustainable & inclusive climate action & DRR through collective effort; 3) Duty bearers and lawmakers have developed policies and demonstrated practices that better incorporate the interests and rights of marginalized people and communities.
