JAGO NARI have broken the culture of silence in the Manta community

Manta community who have been living in boats in Ward No. 7 of Char Montaz Union under Rangabali Upazila of Patuakhali District for a long time.  For their socio-economic development, since 2019, the development agency JAGO NARI has been working with the support of the Muslim Charity.  Manta community is a people who have no house on land and their family lives on the boat they use to catch fish for their livelihood.  When they died there was no proper burial.  The children of these families had no access to education and their births were not registered and national identity cards were not issued.  In order to get rid of this situation, JAGO NARI Manta has started working towards inclusion of the main stream of children’s education and inclusion of families in the social safety net.  A lot of progress has already been achieved in their self-social development.  Manta Childers completed their pre-primary education in JAGO NARI operated  board school, currently 60 children are studying in different classes in the local government primary school and out of total 86 families, 42 families are included in various social safety net programs and 69 families are living in government houses and  Got two Decimal  land.  At present, Manta families fish in boats but live on land.  In addition to fishing, some families have started small businesses as alternative occupations.
