JAGO NARI Strengthens Climate Resilience through District-Level LAPA Sensitization Workshop
On 1 September 2025, JAGO NARI organized a District-Level Sensitization Workshop on the Local Adaptation Plan of Action (LAPA) at the Patuakhali District Auditorium. The event was presided over by Mr. Jewl Rana, Acting District Commissioner, and brought together senior officials from government departments, representatives from diverse sectors, NGOs, journalists, and other professionals committed to advancing climate resilience.
The workshop began with a welcome address by Mr. Golam Mostafa, Director Program, JAGO NARI, followed by a detailed presentation from Mr. Shahen Ahamed, Project Coordinator of the LAPA Project. His presentation emphasized the linkages between the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and local-level adaptation planning, highlighting how LAPA serves as a practical framework for translating national climate policies into community-driven solutions.
During the open discussion session, participants actively contributed their perspectives and recommendations to guide the preparation of exclusive LAPAs for Rangabali and Kalapara Upazilas. Their engagement underscored the urgency of locally tailored adaptation strategies in addressing the region’s growing climate challenges.
This workshop marked an important step toward raising awareness of climate change impacts, identifying practical adaptation options, and reinforcing the critical role of LAPA as a tool to ensure sustainable, locally-led climate action. By aligning with the NAP, JAGO NARI is working to empower communities and strengthen institutional collaboration in building a climate-resilient future for coastal Bangladesh.
