Sensitization Workshop on LAPA at Kalapara Upazila
On 4 September 2025, JAGO NARI’s Local Adaptation Plan of Action (LAPA) Project successfully organized a sensitization workshop at Kalapara Upazila, focusing on the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and its guidance for local adaptation.
The program was presided by Dr. Sankar Proshed Adhikary, Upazila Health & Family Planning Officer, along with key government officials, NGO representatives, Union Parishad Chairmen, journalists, CPP team leaders, and other upazila-level stakeholders.
A PowerPoint presentation showcased the process of developing LAPA by following the NAP guidelines, which set the stage for an engaging open discussion. Participants actively shared their insights, especially the Upazila Education Officer, who highlighted how frequent use of schools as cyclone shelters disrupts learning and increases dropout rates, stressing the need to prioritize education in the LAPA.
Stakeholders acknowledged the urgency of locally-driven solutions and praised JAGO NARI for leading this initiative. The workshop served as a powerful platform to build consensus, raise awareness, and strengthen collective action for sustainable climate resilience in Kalapara.
