5 February 2026, Under the JAGO NARI ACT–II Project, activity R3.17 was successfully implemented with the aim of increasing awareness among school students on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) practices. The key objective of this activity was to promote the use of safe drinking water, proper sanitation, regular handwashing with soap, and the cleanliness and proper maintenance of latrines. The activity was carried out through the distribution of WASH-related IEC materials along with interactive awareness discussions to ensure better understanding and engagement among students.
The session was conducted at Gourichanna Nawab Salimullah High School under the chairmanship of the Head Teacher, Mr. Md. Saiful Islam. During the event, WASH-focused IEC materials were distributed among the students. Following the distribution, an interactive discussion session was facilitated covering important topics such as safe water usage, the importance of sanitation, correct hand washing practices with soap, and the proper use and maintenance of latrines. The session encouraged active participation, where students openly shared their thoughts, asked questions, and discussed their personal experiences related to hygiene and sanitation.
A total of 130 students participated in the session, including 68 girls and 62 boys. All participating students received WASH message notebooks, which were warmly welcomed and highly appreciated. The materials served as an effective tool to reinforce key hygiene messages and encouraged students to continue learning and practicing WASH behaviors both at school and at home.
The students expressed their satisfaction with the session and shared positive feedback regarding their learning experience.

Similarly, Mst Jannati, a Class Seven student, stated that the session enhanced her understanding of personal hygiene and sanitation systems and emphasized that these practices would play an important role in her daily life. She expressed her commitment to following the practices and sharing the knowledge with friends and family.
The Head Teacher, Mr. Md. Nasir Uddin, expressed his sincere appreciation to the JAGO NARI ACT–II Project team for organizing the awareness session at the school. According to him, the students gained practical and essential knowledge about safe water use, sanitation, and proper hand washing, which are crucial for their health and daily lives. He also expressed confidence that the knowledge gained would be shared beyond the school, benefiting families and the wider community, and contributing to a healthier future generation.

Overall, the session successfully enhanced students’ knowledge and awareness regarding WASH practices. The students demonstrated strong interest and commitment to applying the learned behaviors in their daily lives and sharing the messages with their peers and families.
