International Women’s Day Celebration at Barguna District Level on 8 March 2026

The Women Lead in Emergencies (WiLE) project implemented by the non-governmental development organization Jagonari with financial support from the Agency Francis de Development (AFD) and technical assistance from CARE Bangladesh is being implemented in three unions (Aylapatakata, Chotobogi and Patharghata Sadar) of three upazilas (Barguna Sadar, Taltoli and Patharghata) of Barguna Sadar.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, JAGO NARI’s WiLE project jointly celebrated International Women’s Day with the District Women’s Affairs Department at the Suborno Joyanti Meeting Room of the Barguna District Administration on 8 March 2026.
The program was presided over by Mr. Ms. Taslima Akhter, Deputy Commissioner Barguna. In addition, respected government officials, respected political figures, NGO representatives, journalists, dignitaries, respected women leaders of Sudhi Samaj and Wiley Project women’s group were also present as guests.
On behalf of JAGO NARI, Hosne Ara Hasi, the respected Executive Head of JAGO NARI, delivered his valuable speech at the meeting. In his speech, he drew the attention of the District Administrator to ensuring equal status of women in all fields and equal wages for women’s work.

He especially emphasized the importance of equal wages for women fishermen on the coast who earn their living by fishing and the implementation of fisherman cards. He said that special steps must be taken to improve the lives and livelihoods of women who are neglected at the grassroots level.
The president of the event highlighted the need to increase women’s participation in various programs, develop women’s leadership in the decision-making process, and take necessary initiatives to ensure women’s safety.
