JAGO NARI’s Annual General Meeting and Executive Board Elections Held

On 30 June 2026, JAGO NARI’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2026 was successfully held at JAGO NARI Training and Research Center, Barguna.
The meeting was attended by the members of the esteemed Advisory Council of JAGO NARI, members of the General Council and invited guests. The members of the esteemed Advisory Council present were Dr. Matiur Rahman and Monir Hossain Kamal.
In the meeting, a new 7-member Executive Board was elected democratically for the next three years (2026–2029). The newly elected Executive Board is: Adv. Selina Akhter – President, Ferdousi Anu – Vice-President, Hosne Ara Hasi – General Secretary, Shamima Nasrin – Co-General Secretary, Adv. Nargis Parveen Surma – Treasurer, Maksuda Begum Chobi – Executive Member and Shahnaz – Executive Member.
The election process was conducted in a fair, impartial and transparent manner by the esteemed members of the Election Commission. The Election Commission consisted of Adv. Ranjuara Sipu – Chief Election Commissioner, Hamida Begum – Assistant Election Commissioner and Nigat Sultana Azad – Assistant Election Commissioner.
In addition, the budget of Jagonari for the next fiscal year, various organizational policies and important administrative issues were unanimously approved in the meeting.
JAGO NARI is a completely women-led and women-focused organization. Since its inception, women have been in the main responsibilities of the organization’s general assembly, executive council and leadership. The main philosophy of JAGO NARI is to ensure women’s rights, empowerment, leadership development and participation of women in decision-making. The organization has been working tirelessly for the past 28 years to improve the quality of life of women, children and vulnerable populations in coastal Bangladesh, reduce disaster risk, climate resilience and humanitarian assistance.

Most of the members of the General Council and the newly elected Executive Council of JAGO NARI are long-time social workers. They have voluntarily dedicated their valuable time of life to establish the rights of marginalized women, children and disadvantaged people in the coastal region, social justice, humanitarian assistance and women’s empowerment. Their experience, leadership and dedication are the greatest strengths of JAGO NARI.
JAGO NARI believes that good governance, transparency, accountability, women’s leadership and participatory decision-making are the foundation of building a strong and sustainable organization.
The meeting sincerely congratulated the newly elected Executive Council. At the same time, sincere gratitude was expressed to the members of the Advisory Council, Election Commission, General Council, staff, volunteers and all well-wishers. Through the collective efforts of all, JAGO NARI is committed to establishing the rights of women and children, increasing disaster resilience, and building a more equal and just society in the days to come.
