Jagonari has started a new project in Barguna under the title Disaster Risk Reduction-Community Asset Creation Programme with the support of WFP. The main activity of this project is the preparation of RRAP (Risk Reduction Action Plan) through Community Risk Analysis. After the preparation of RRAP, some DRR activities will be implemented for disaster risk reduction. DRR activities will be implemented by the Union Disaster Management Committee (UDMC). The main partners of the project are UDMC, UzDMC (PIO, LGED, UNO, BWDB, Forest Department). A committee will be formed by UzTFC (Upazila Task Force Committee).

Project Goal
To reduce disaster risk and increase resilience in cyclone-prone coastal areas through community-led planning and implementation of Risk Reduction Action Plans (RRAPs).

Objectives
- Systematically mitigate disaster risk 4 unions of Barguna Sadar Upazila in Barguna District by implementing a proactive DRR programme

- Coordinating meaningful engagement with both public and private stakeholders, and ensuring sustainable, community-driven initiatives to prepare the Risk Reduction Action Plan (RRAP) through Community Risk Assessment (CRA) followed by implementing different Schemes prioritized in RRAP through support from local Disaster Management Committees.

- Inception meetings (district, upazila levels).
- RRAP development and validation.
- DRR scheme implementation via PPP.
- Monitoring visits, advocacy workshops, lessons-learned sharing.
- Gender equality and safeguarding training.
- Robust feedback and accountability mechanisms.

Implementation Strategy
- Conduct CRA sessions and validate RRAPs across 4 unions.
- Implement prioritized DRR schemes (e.g., cyclone shelters, drainage, culverts embankments etc).
- Establish Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and MoUs with Union Disaster Management Committees (UDMCs).
- Utilize trained youth volunteers and engage 3,000-strong community volunteer network.
- Ensure inclusivity and gender-sensitive programming.

- 12 CRA & 4 RRAPs developed and validated.
- DRR schemes implemented under PPP.
- MoUs signed with all relevant UDMCs.
- Feasibility surveys conducted for all schemes.
- Regular monitoring, Lesson learning session workshop and documentation of the project.

Monitoring & Accountability

JAGO NARI will implement a strong MEAL framework, use participatory monitoring, and operate a 24/7 feedback system to ensure transparency and responsiveness.
