In late May 2025, southern coastal districts of Bangladesh including Bhola, Patuakhali, and Barguna experienced the impacts of heavy rainfall and tidal surges. Several embankments collapsed, and low-lying areas were inundated, leading to the displacement of thousands and significant damage to homes, agriculture, and local infrastructure. While the storm has subsided, the affected districts are still recovering from widespread losses, especially in rural and river-adjacent communities.

According to government data, Patuakhali district has been most affected by the impact of this severe depression. Damage has also been reported in Bhola and Barguna districts. 62 unions and 4 municipalities in Patuakhali district have been affected. Out of which 119,130 ​​people have been affected and 1,277 houses have been partially damaged. 46 unions and 1 municipality in Bhola district have been affected. Out of which 64,255 people have been affected and 5,365 houses have been partially or completely damaged. 6 upazilas and 4 municipalities in Barguna district have been affected. Out of which 25,000 people have been affected and 200 houses have been partially damaged.

Non-governmental development organization JAGONARI has compiled information on the deep depression through the SOS form. At the same time, Jagonari has assessed the steps taken after the incident, its results and immediate needs.

- Evacuated affected people to cyclone shelters
- Volunteers conducted field visits and community discussions

The source of drinking water has been destroyed in the affected areas due to the impact of the deep depression.

- The situation is gradually stabilizing, with water receding in most areas
- The embankment collapse caused major impact
- No reported casualties, but families suffered material and infrastructural losses
- Coordination is ongoing with local authorities and disaster committees
